“Grape capital of India”

Nashik district, Maharashtra, called “grape capital of India”, is the leading grape producer in the country,
with about 1.75 lakh hectare of land under grape cultivation as of December 2015.
It is also known as the Wine capital of the country as it is also home to largest number of vineyards and
wineries in is known as the Grape Capital of India as it contributes more than half of the total grape export in the country.
India is among the first ten countries in the world in the production of grape.
They can be eaten fresh, dried to make raisins, or crushed to make grape juice or wine.
There are more than 8,000 varieties of grape.
